2007 Bridge 2 Bridge - Official results

Gotta love Championchip timing the results from this morning's race are already posted.

My official chip time was 0:59:04, for an average pace of 9:30.

That totally rocks my world. If I can go 9:30 for 6.2 miles, I can probably do a 9:00 pace for 3.1 - that means I should look for a sub-28:00 time in my next 5K.

See?! I told you I'd set records this year!

2007 Bridge 2 Bridge - PFR

My unofficial results, provided by my trusty Timex, show that I finished today in exactly an hour: 1:00:00.

That's a PFR - Personal Fucking Record.

That's also "gun time", not "chip time". When I crossed the finish line, I saw 0:59:54 on the official clock. So I may have also finished in under an hour. Which, frankly, blows my mind.

The temperature was nearly perfect. It was pouring down rain right up until the race was about to start. I weighed in at 183 lb. this morning. I ate well yesterday, not too much, and had a nice lasagna dinner. I imagine the humidity was high, which is a minus, and, of course, my brain was thinking I was going to suck.

But I didn't. I'm super proud! I can do anything!

I was running about a 10:15 pace for the first two or three miles, which got me to the Fremont. I was wrong - the race goes over the lower deck, not the upper. Mile 4 was on I-405, on the far side of the bridge, and apparently I was running around a 9:50 pace for that mile. I just kept plugging along and did have to take some short walking breaks between Mile 5 and 6, but once I hit Mile 6 and I could see the finish line, and I knew that if I kicked hard I could finish under an hour... well, let's just say, Katie bar the door!

As I said before - I am so going to set some personal records this season. And here's one now!

Bridge to Bridge 10K

I'm running in the Bridge to Bridge 10K this morning... a little less than an hour and a half from now is when the race starts.

I've wanted to run this race since I started running. Last year I signed up but didn't go because it was raining and I was generally depressed.

It's raining this morning but I am not depressed.

It's a tough course; it goes over the Fremont Bridge, and have you seen how high that bridge is? Crikey. But I ran Terwilliger Blvd. last week in an effort to prepare...

My current best time in the 10K is last year's Pints to Pasta, where I ran 1:02:31.6, for an average pace of 10:04/mile. If I come close to that today I'll be happy.

If I beat it... I'll be astonished.

I'll post my results as soon as they're available.
