2007 Bridge 2 Bridge - PFR
My unofficial results, provided by my trusty Timex, show that I finished today in exactly an hour: 1:00:00.
That's a PFR - Personal Fucking Record.
That's also "gun time", not "chip time". When I crossed the finish line, I saw 0:59:54 on the official clock. So I may have also finished in under an hour. Which, frankly, blows my mind.
The temperature was nearly perfect. It was pouring down rain right up until the race was about to start. I weighed in at 183 lb. this morning. I ate well yesterday, not too much, and had a nice lasagna dinner. I imagine the humidity was high, which is a minus, and, of course, my brain was thinking I was going to suck.
But I didn't. I'm super proud! I can do anything!
I was running about a 10:15 pace for the first two or three miles, which got me to the Fremont. I was wrong - the race goes over the lower deck, not the upper. Mile 4 was on I-405, on the far side of the bridge, and apparently I was running around a 9:50 pace for that mile. I just kept plugging along and did have to take some short walking breaks between Mile 5 and 6, but once I hit Mile 6 and I could see the finish line, and I knew that if I kicked hard I could finish under an hour... well, let's just say, Katie bar the door!
As I said before - I am so going to set some personal records this season. And here's one now!
