Valentine Fanconi Anemia 5K
Yes, I've been running. Running at the gym, mostly, and generally just 30-45 minutes at a time. I think I've managed one 6 mile run in the past two months. Maybe two of those.
I'll add a catch-up post later; I'll add up all the miles I've run so far since the beginning of the year, and since I last posted.
For now I want to mention that I ran the Valentine 5K to benefit fanconi anemia. Ran it with my nephew. My training hasn't been particularly speed-y, as noted above, and yet I still managed to finish at around a 9:30 pace today. When I crossed the finish line I saw 29:something on the clock.
When the results are officially posted I'll update but for now I'm pretty happy with my results. I was using today to judge how much training I need to get out there and set personal records this season. And I think I rocked for as slow as I've been.
Being at 180 lb. helps, too - although my celebratory chocolate hazelnut milkshake may hurt me there... along with the pepper bacon Tillamook cheeseburger, and the bacon and eggs and pancakes breakfast earlier, and all the beer I plan to drink later... But, y'know, celebrating life's little victories is not only allowed, it's important, dammit!
